The Best UK Indoor Water Parks For Family Days Out
If you're looking for some fun-filled family days out, there's nothing quite like a visit to an indoor water park. They’re perfect for those days where the weather isn’t too great and you and your little one’s have some spare time to fill. Thankfully, the UK is home to several fantastic water parks that provide an escape from the cold weather, rain, or just the everyday routine. Here are some of our favourite indoor water parks in the UK:
Alton Towers Waterpark, Staffordshire
Located in Staffordshire, Alton Towers Waterpark is part of the infamous Alton Towers Resort. If you haven’t been to this fabulous theme park, it’s super popular and definitely a great way to spend a day! It’s also great if you’re looking for a hotel with a waterpark as you can stay there too. The waterpark itself is amazing as it has whole a range of rides, including the Master Blaster, a water coaster that takes riders through tunnels and drops. It is also known for its Flash Floods, a wave pool with six different wave patterns. If you love a wave pool like we do, this one is a fun option. This waterpark is great for kids as there is plenty of interactive play. They also have an outdoor pool and flume ride for those warmer summer days. This water park is £22 for anyone over the age of 3 so it can be pricey but you can save if you are a merlin pass holder.
Sandcastles Waterpark, Blackpool
Did you know the biggest indoor water park in the UK is actually locatedin Blackpool?Yep, on the coast of Lancashire, SandcastleWaterpark is not one to be missed! Theaquapark has over 18 water slides, including the world's longest indoor rollercoaster water slide, the Master Blaster.There is also a wave pool, lazy river and often some slides are smaller to bechildfriendly.Thispark is open all year round, so you caneven enjoy it in the winter months ifyou’relooking for some half term activities! And of course,there’slots more to do in Blackpool like the theme park, arcades and of course, the beach ifyou’replanning afamilyday out.Prices for the park range depending on age but it is£24 for adults, £20 for8-11 year olds, £15 for3-7 year oldsand under 3’s go free.Sessions are about 3 hours which leaves plenty of time for fun!
Splashdown, Poole
An aqua park that is perfect for those living further down south is Splashdown. This waterpark is located in Poole, Dorset, and has 13 different slides, including the Space Bowl, a slide that drops you into a spinning bowl (while being lit up in neon colours!), and the Screamer, a vertical drop slide. Sounds terrifying, doesn’t it? If you have any thrill seeker children, they are sure to have a great time! Thankfully, there's also a toddler area and a lazy river for those who want a more relaxed experience. You can visit their website to see a slide guide for which ones are more intense and to also book your tickets. You can book a 2 hour session from £16.50 per person or 3 hours for £19 per person and under 5’s are just £9 no matter the session length.Coral Reef Waterworld, Berkshire
Another fantastic indoor water park is the Coral Reef Waterworld, located in Bracknell, Berkshire. This waterworld is super cool as it has five different zones for your children to explore, including a pirate ship and a rapid river. The park also has six different water slides, including the Cannon, a slide that drops you into a 1.3-meter deep pool. Once again, another perfect attraction for the daredevils in your family! Prices again range a little depending on age, so adult tickets are from £15.80, over 5-16 year olds are from £11.20 and under 5’s are just £1. You can also get a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) from £54. Interestingly for adults, this pool also has a spa and within your Coral Spa ticket, you also have use of the pools and the slides, how cool is that?
Waterworld, Stoke-On-Trent
If you live closer to Stoke-On-Trent, no need to travel to Bracknell as you have your own Waterworld! This water park has over 30 different rides and attractions, which sounds like an amazing day out. While it has a huge indoor area for your children, there is also plenty more to enjoy outside on those warmer summer days. One of its most popular attractions is the Black Hole, a slide that takes you through a dark tunnel, and the Rapids, a ride that takes you through some crazy white-water rapids. Tickets for Water world go off height instead of age so check the website for more info. To sum up though, a single ticket (over 1.1m tall) is £23 each. A child ticket (under 1.1 tall) is £20 each and a baby ticket for those under 2 is £7. They are also open to doing events like birthday’s if you have any coming up! And that’s not all, there is also an Adventure Mini Golf and a Spa and Fitness facility on site to keep everybody busy.
Calypso Cove, Barnsley
If you’re look for a cool themed waterpark, Calypso Cove is the one. The park, which is also known as the Barnsley Metrodome Waterpark, is an awesome pirate themed park with a whole bunch of slides, and some of the UK’s fastest flumes. This waterpark is actually great for all ages as there are pools and slides to cater to all. The park also offers multiple different sessions such as the Little Finn’s Sessions, aimed at giving parents and toddlers a quieter time in the water. It might be one of the coolest decorated parks to visit and it’s just 5 minutes from Barnsley Interchange for those travelling in. Tickets cost just £10.70 for over 16’s, £8.60 for children 3-15 years and £3.50 for under 3’s so this also our most affordable option!
